Back in 1994, Bill Gates, the owner of Microsoft, predicted some companies such as Facebook or Netflix. His vision is impressive because the world wide web, the protocol at the foundation of the Internet, was invented just five years before by Tim Berners-Lee.

In an interview for Playboy magazine, Bill Gates said that computers, which at the time were used to create and edit documents, will become tools to access and share media content on the Internet.

“Let’s say you want to see a movie. To pick a title you will want to know what movies other people like. You’ll be able to access that information. Then you will pick a movie and you will see video on demand. After that you’ll be able to share your opinion about that movie on the Internet” Bill Gates said.

The services Bill Gates was talking about at the time appeared later. We are referring to services such as YouTube, Netflix and Facebook, three of the most popular online platforms in the world.

Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, is one of the richest people in the world. Recently, we presented Bill Gates’ home, Xanadu 2.0, which you can see here on the top most expensive homes in the world list.
