Brilliant actors who never won the Oscar Award

After waiting for many years, being the target of countless jokes and receiving five Oscar nominations, Leonardo Di Caprio managed to win the Oscar award in  2016 for playing Huge Glass in The Revenant.

For this movie Leonardo Di Caprio had to shoot at very low temperatures, had to eat raw bison liver ( you probably remember that this time last year everybody was talking about what Leonardo Di Caprio had to eat in The Revenant ) and he even slept in a dead animal. Well all this paid off as Leonardo Di Caprio has finally won the Oscar Award.

28 February 2016 was the day when Leonardo Di Caprio shook his bad luck and went home with the trophy so we think there are chances for the actors below to also win the award. It’s very weird that they haven’t won the Oscar yet as all of the actors above had very good roles over the course of their careers. Go figure.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at some brilliant yet unlucky actors who haven’t managed to go home with the Oscar award so far.

Edward Norton

For more than ten years now, precisely when I first saw The Painted Veil and American History X, Edward Norton has become one of my favorites actor. We’ve also seen him in Primal Fear playing a brilliant psycho ( shady, but brilliant ). Edward teamed up with Brat Pitt in Fight Club and he made us fall in love with magic in The Illusionist. Call us subjective but we think Edward Norton is one of the best actors in Hollywood. So far he has received three Oscar nominations for his roles in Primal Fear, American History X and Birdman but failed to win the trophy.

Johnny Depp

He played Edward Gilbert Grape, Don Juan, Willy Wonka, Sweeney Todd, Jack Sparrow ( the list can go on forever ) and we have to say we loved Johnny is every movie. He is one of the most loved and appreciated Hollywood actors and nothing can change this, not even a scandal ( you might remember that Amber Heard accused Johnny of domestic abuse ). Even so, Johnny Depp still hasn’t won the Oscar award although he was nominated three times: the first time he was nominated in 2004 for playing Jack Sparrow in The Pirates of the Caribbean: the Curse of the  Black Pearl. The second nomination came in 2005 for his role in Finding Neverland and the third and last one came in 2008 for the role of Sweeney Todd.

Amy Adams

So far Amy Adams won four Oscar nominations but hasn’t managed to win any of them but we’re sure things will look up for Amy in the future as she’s a brilliant actress and she’s picking her roles carefully.

Bill Murray

We’re just gonna list a few awesome movies Bill Murray starred in: What About Bob?, Scrooged, St. Vincent, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Last year Bill received the Mark Twain award at the White House, an award usually given to only the best comedians. Bill Murray received just one Oscar nomination so far for his role in Lost in Translation but we think he deserves at least one Oscar for all the times he made us laugh so hard!

Helena Bonham Carter

No role is too hard or impossible for our girl Helena Bonham Carter. She played so many characters and she played them very well: Lucy Honeychurch in A Room With A View, a wonderful story which takes place in Florence at the beginning of the 20th century, she played evil Bellatrix Lestrange in Harry Potter, she played Iracebeth  in Alice in Wonderland. She played so many diverse characters that we feel Helena can actually play everything thrown at her.

Helena Bonham Carter won two Oscar nominations so far: one for the role in The Wing of the Dove and one for the role in The King’s Speech. A great actress such as Helena will surely go  home with the Oscar award in the future.

Ralph Fiennes

Ralph Fiennes has won many fans after his stellar performance in The English Patient. A long time has passed since then but Ralph still hasn’t won the Oscar. He received two Oscar nominations so far: for The English Patient and for Schindler’s List.

Glenn Close

Many people still look at Glenn Close and they see Crulla de Vil but we think now is the time to recall some of Glenn’s most memorable roles, movies where she put up impressive displays of her talent. Glenn Close won three Oscar nominations three years in a row ( 1983, 1984, and 1985 ) for her roles in The World According to Garp, The Big Chill and The Natural, then she received a nomination in 1988 for Fatal Attraction, in 1989 for Dangerous Liaisons and the last time she was nominated  was in 2012for Albert Nobbs.

Robert Downey Jr.

This man is awesome. Before he became a Marvel superstar cashing in millions for playing Iron Man, Robert played the role of Charlie Chaplin and delivered a top performance that also brought his first Oscar nomination. Robert was also nominated back in 2009 for his role in Tropic Thunder.

Michelle Williams

After taking a few years off acting, Michelle Williams returns this year on the big screen in Manchester by the Sea, one of the movies preferred by critics but with small chances of winning the Oscar.

We’re so happy to see Michelle Williams back at work because she manages to deliver top performances every time.

Michelle Williams was previously nominated at the Oscar awards in 2006 for her role in Brokeback Mountain, in 2011 for her performance in Blue Valentine and in 2012 for playing Marilyn Monroe ( we can’t think of a more suitable actress to play that role ) in Week with Marilyn.

Do you think these  actors should have won the Oscar award ?

Also, here’s another food for thought, just thought about it ( honest ! ): can you imagine a movie starring all the actors listed above ?
