Donald Trump wants to cut the budget for culture in 2018

Donald Trump, the president of the United States, is considering cutting the federal funding for arts, culture, public radio and TV networks.

Back in 2016, public radio and TV networks in the United States received $445 million in federal funding, meaning 0.01% of the country’s annual expenditures. Cultural and artistic institutions also received $146 million in federal funding, meaning 0,004% of the entire U.S. budget.

If Donald Trump manages to cut culture from budget, the United States will save more than one billion dollars, which is actually a very, very, very small percentage of the U.S. budget.

Donald Trump’s decision is not based on saving money however he wants to take revenge on how the media treated him in the election campaign.

This budget change needs to be approved by Congress but the current Congress is mostly Republican so they might actually do it.

According to some recent studies, if Trump manages to cut federal funding for culture, this will cause the shutdown of 54 TV networks an 76 radio stations. This will result in a lot of people losing their jobs, while in his election campaign Donald Trump promised to create jobs, not cut them.

Museums and theaters in poorer states will also be affected as they rely on federal funding in order to survive.

This goes to show, once again, that Donald Trump is unfit to serve as the President of the United States.

What do you think ?
