It’s been many years since Mario arrived for mobile devices as Super Mario Run. Unfortunately, the game was only available for iOS devices from Apple.
Super Mario is one of the most successful gaming franchises in the world. Nintendo made a fortune with the Super Mario franchise and in 2016 Nintendo decided to reinvent the game for a new generation of gamers. The announcement has been made during the release events of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, a clear sign of the fact that the game was going to be released for iOS, exclusively ( at least for a while ).
At that time Nintendo promised that Super Mario Run will also arrive for Android. And Nintendo kept its word, also because Android is one of the most popular platforms in the world and it would have been bad business for Nintendo to ignore Android. Back in January of this year Nintendo announced that Super Mario Run will arrive for Android in March, without mentioning a precise date.
The official release date for Super Mario Run for Android was announced by Nintendo America in a Twitter post this last weekend. So, according to Nintendo, all Android users will be able to download Super Mario Run for Android from the Google Play Store on March 23, 2017.
If you want some numbers about Super Mario Run for iOS you should know that so far the game was downloaded 78 million times. Also, on March 23, 2017, iOS gamers will get an update introducing new characters they can play with. If you’re anxious to test the game on Android, you can pre-register on Google Play by clicking on this link. If you do, you will be immediately announced when the final version of the game is available for download. Super Mario Run for Android will be free to download but you will have to pay $10 if you want the full version.
